Forget Item Upgrade: 10 Reasons Why You Do Not Need It

Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The process of upgrading an item, often called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in an increase in the linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the power of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through various methods that include the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which could boost their stats even more.

Upgradeable items are available throughout the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. The primary method to upgrade gear is through the use of upgrade components which are the items that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots for upgrading, and many require a specific level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses while others give an overall bonus.

There are several types of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools and offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing extra crafting materials.

Choose the item from your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you do not have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components required for a specific item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The price of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can lower this cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller or trading them with other players.

The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Some can be improved with a suffix. These upgrades include an adjective in the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph has a set of values that it can increase a stat's value according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This range is the maximum value that the glyph can enhance a stat by and not the amount it will actually increase the stat by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and the quality of the item you are admiring.

The majority of upgrade components that are inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can take out the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered using the glyph shards.

Adding a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also place an inscription on your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is helpful for players who take a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens permit players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment, and can be found in various ways such as in mistery boxes, as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with a random affix that is usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the upgrade menu, but they can still receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is based on the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than items with lower levels.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls will roll a % chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it is higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolling is a great way to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl is diminished by the number of rerolls it took to get it to the final level. This is evident on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to raise the ilvl.

The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it with money or a food item which would allow them to change their build without wasting time and effort. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add the ability for players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to boost the value of an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading a given stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which increases the damage or heal of a given stat. In addition there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. Once this is done the new item will keep its iLevel however it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded type of item.

It is crucial to remember that upgrades can be random. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are  item upgrades  where a higher or more special roll could occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a specific item type, it is likely to getting an additional level.

Upgrading items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to legendary track. The price will be based on the item's iLevel base and the number of upgrade levels it offers. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the maximum level of its upgrade track and gain a bonus effect. This will result in a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level, however. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.

The iLevel also changes according to the upgrade path and its base level. For example an item that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one is likely to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
